Me, personally, I'm glad Canada didn't buy those nuke subs from the British,
(or French...). At the time, any subs looked good, but it seemed we were
buying second rate equipment just to keep costs down. Do we need subs at
all? Well, probably, yeah - the 1987 White Paper on defence said Canada
should be able to defend our three oceans, (i.e., patrol the Arctic).

I guess there's sort of a running dispute between us and everyone else,
(the Yankees, again...), over Canadian Sovereignty over the Arctic islands.
A number of solutions were proposed to stop people from cruising through our
water just whenever the hell they wanted, including building more ice-
-breakers, and mining certain channels, (no kidding). A good solution,
though, was to build nuclear submarines with under the ice capabilities
so we could keep track of who was using our water.

So, we looked into buying subs. We just wanted attack submarines, (i.e.,
no nuclear weapons like missles and the such...), and looked into several
proposals which were finally narrowed down to the Trafalgar and the Rubis
class subs. These are pretty small subs, and I believe they were both
going to have to be modified to be able to break through the ice.

Of course, the whole thing got canned at election time, due to costs, and
public disapproval, (Canadians thought they were buying "nuclear weapons", a
bad, bad thing - this really shows Canada's naivety and innocence).

So, what if we had actually got the stupid things? This scenario tries a
mixed blend of subs - Rubis/Trafalgar/Oberon/LA - which a variety of
variables thrown in to be fair to all. Are subs required in the Atlantic,
or sould we only get them for the north. Try to see whether most of your
detections come from subs or CP-140's.

War has begun, each sub has been assigned a patrol area, and is tasked to
detect and prosecute Red subs. If an attack cannot be made without seriously
compromising your position to the enemy, then just let the air force make
the attack. Destroy as many subs as you can find, but be careful not to
lose any of your own subs.
